America is taking me by surprise.

A nice and warm day after months of snow and chilly winds. A T Shirt- Jeans day after days of winter coats and snow boots. A very musical day after months of strict academic routine. A great day after many uncountable-uneventful-normal days that pass by without leaving a mark. A great day made even greater by around 120 American singers singing Zikr ( song from BOSE ) and Vande Mataram (Rehman) outside Presser Halls sitting on the lawns. They were preparing for the Rehman Concert. The enthusiasm, the dedication, the commitment and the energy with which they sang left an indelible impression on my mind.

Out here in Miami University, the last thing I expected was to hear these songs being sung by Americans (most of them singing from memory). It just touched me so much. This has been the place where people give you rides all the time. They just give away beds, tables, cupboards if they do not need it. They are always happy to hear about your accomplishments. They are always truthful. They are always polite. They give away flowers to anyone who says that their names starts with "X". The florists do not check ID cards. They are the people who trust you, even if you are a stranger.

I probably should not have been surprised. Miami has surprised me enough by always doing what is utopian. Singing Rehman songs with the standard that is bound to take Rehman by awe, should not surprise me at least. Way To Go !!!!!

and what a lovely thing to have experienced! i know how comforting it must be to see a warm smile in a strange land! :-)
and i can just imagine how it must feel to have the music soar through the air! :-)
is this what utopia should be like??

Keka..it is diff to describe utopia..But insteda of dying wondering what it is like,...we should call certain moements utopian so that we die knowing that we experienced it !!!!

Oi, I sent you an orkut-invitation last week (hmm...when...thursday or friday, I guess). Still you haven't got it :(...

Don't be much suprised by Miami Uni. in Ohio - more or less the whole USA is like that, except some of the big cities. Here people don't much gossip about their neighbors behind back, but when need comes, they always rush forward.
